What is a personal grievance?
A personal grievance is the legal mechanism for employees (or ex-employees) to challenge a dismissal, or other unfair or disadvantageous treatment by their employer or the third party they do work for (in the case of a triangular employment relationship, e.g. working via a recruitment agency).
Employees have 90 days to raise a personal grievance claim (unless it relates to sexual harassment, which allows employees 12 months) and employers must respond within a fair and reasonable timeframe.
