An averaging agreement is a formal arrangement between an employer and an employee that allows the employee’s working hours to be averaged over a set period of time, rather than being assessed on a daily or weekly basis.
Why use an averaging agreement?
To accommodate irregular or seasonal work.
To give employees more flexibility with shifts or rostered time.
Toreduce the need for overtime payments, as long as the average hours don't exceed the legal limits.
